I have been watching Masterchef over the past couple of weeks (while studying for exams) and have noticed a few things. One, the introduction music of the show. I can’t stand the introduction music. It must be the words that the produces have selected but it turns me off the show before it even begins. Not to mention that nearly every episode someone cries! Doesn’t anyone want to run up to the constant and hand them a tissue? Masterchef isn’t the only reality tv show that makes their constants cry… Biggest Loser Australia is another one to mention. I reckon they should toughen up and don’t let themselves break so often that way every 30 seconds we don’t see someone cry.
I just hope that reality tv shows over time, will decrease in the numbers and good drama tv shows will increase again. As we know what happened with Big Brother, too much repetition of the same thing and then it vanished. Which I was happy with. I didn’t like that show at all. If networks are going to support reality tv shows, lets hope (for the people out there that like reality tv) they keep spicing it up to ensure that people are liking what they see and hopefully stay tuned to the program and don’t switch away from a program after 5 minutes into it.
I’m not a huge fan of reality tv shows, I think it’s a television network’s way of saying we don’t have a good drama or a comedy to paste on, we’ll think of a reality tv show. I more into a television show that has a good storyline. I think that’s the main thing. A good storyline keeps the people entertained and asking question’s what’s going to happen next? Who’s going to go? And so on. Without a good storyline, I don’t think the show will have a good impact on its intended audiences.
How about you? What do you look for in a reality and or television show?
