Been figuring out the fundamentals applied to make a good story. This is based upon the various types of communication material that is available for individual writers utilise. A few things I do believe that makes a good story is creating suspense, drama, climax, comedy (avoid over doing / the joke becomes old and dry), leave the audience guessing what’s happening next etc.

However, avoid the concept of “predictable moments!”  That’s one thing I dislike seeing in movies and tv shows. However this is determined by the overall effect of being predictable. A good example would be Hangover 2. I must say I did enjoy Hangover which featured the “wolf pack” venturing around Las Vegas. Which is definitely awesome (been to Las Vegas for a holiday) however when it came to Hangover 2 – it was very predictable!  Hangover 2 had the similar story line as the first one but the only difference they replaced / added characters. Watched the first 5 minutes of that movie I really wanted to switch off or even rewatch a past episode of Happy Endings or Sh*t My Dad Says. That’s a good example of where the audience can actually tell what’s going to happen, some moments of the story line were a bit dry… The writers did a good job all up.

American Dad – Season 7, Episode 5

I must say American Dad has been an awesome show to watch. This episode introduced part of  Buffy the Vampire Slayer back on the screen! I was happy to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan back on our screens taking on an animated form. Got a flashback to the days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer – such good times. I really enjoyed this episode as the jokes, story line and character interactions isn’t predictable, its kept fresh and of course entertaining! Keep it up!

Desperate Housewives

Ah Desperate Housewives is one show I did maintain interest which is due to the interesting story line told in each season. These story lines (I do think) have captured the essence of real life families and adventures – which they have done a good job with that! There is some predictable moments throughout the season(s) – like the concept secrets, notes or death of a character.

However these concepts have been introduced as fresh ideas! Take Season 7 of Desperate Housewives and the note that Mary Alice received (which was told in Season 1)

The writers reintroduced this idea back in Season 7. They way they did it was interesting but I’m not going to go into detail… you’ll just have to watch it!

If I end up writing a story sometime I would probably look at “predictable moments” and try to keep the outcome of these moments fresh and avoid it becoming dry.

Part 1: Share a Coke with…

I’ve seen this around alot the “share a coke with” idea on coke bottles and I must say I kinda like that idea. Its like giving a name to the bottle of drink that your drinking or you could be sharing a good time with Mel the Coke bottle. I just hope that the coke bottle is a nice coke bottle and doesn’t ruin the afternoon or something like that.

What do you think about this idea? Which Coke bottles have you shared with?

Back again with another post. Been over a year since I last did a blog post. Was an interesting and awesome year of 2011…

Did the following things:

1. Graduated from Uni (aka Season 5)

2. Met awesome  new people

3. Had great times

4. Share new laughs…. and loads more

So was thinking (and hoping) that 2012 is awesome as 2011 was. For this to happen, I should probably make some new years resolutions right? I wonder if procrastination should make the list haha. Going to make some year long resolution ideas and that way I end up COMPLETING it rather than procrastinate more like the hare racing against the tortoise (the hare chilled out throughout the race – providing I got that part of the story right heh).

Here is the 2012 new years resolution ideas, things to do (not sure if wishful thinking can be included? Like having superpowers or something like that)

1. Complete my Masters with Distinction average (aka Season 6 of Uni adventures)

2. Maintain fitness level and train at the gym at least 3 to 4 times per week

3. Meet new people – if they are awesome, added bonus!

4. Be happy with the year

5. Plan a potential future holiday

That’s my last so far. Maybe I could add some more to that? Any ideas?

Now….

For the wishful I don’t think this would happen for 2012

1. Have superpowers – big list there haha

2. Appear on TV in something awesome

3.  Meet an awesome girl

4. Maybe try to do a blackflip

What does music mean to you? Does it influence you to make decisions? Does boost your energy levels while going to the gym, having a tennis hit or simply driving to work? For me music does a variety of things. It does boost my energy levels while working out. I do feel pumped while listening to some songs. I do believe that music channels a variety of set emotions that identifies what our core structure of defining who we are as a person. If your a happy person at times, your playlist reflects upon that. If your happy most of the time or not really your playlist will reflect the current emotion level your at to cater towards what you need out of the song to get through the day.

I do believe that music does rely upon creativity. It takes a creative mind to develop awesome music clips but it also allows us the listeners to create a miniature world in our minds to make our story based upon the song. I could be wrong, but hey sometimes it does happen.

Haven’t created a new post in ages so I thought today I make my way back to blogging for a bit. Kinda like a television show gone on break and resume for a bit. Probably not. Firstly I’ll start off by saying “Happy New Year!”  We have made it all to 2011. This is a mixed blog to kick start 2011. It might be short but its a warm up round. As the beginning of a new year it marks the start of TENNIS!!

Haven’t updated here in awhile… So I thought I update it before I start my uni study for the weekend. Few notes. University this year is going well; some subjects I’m currently studying are alright but however I can see that the content illustrated in the lecture slides have been similar in other subjects which I have completed. Which is not bad. Have some ideas for my blog and I will change some current ones at the moment. I will resume writing more later on.

I saw Date Night last night…. I found the movie to be AWESOME! Never laughed so much in a movie before! The characters were great. I liked Tina and Steve’s roles in this movie. I listened to Tina on the David Letterman show last night (Australia) and she mentioned how that she felt that they actually portrayed a real married couple of the movie. Felt inspired myself seeing how the story was developed in this movie. Great movie, great script and awesome characters. Would definitely recommend people seeing this movie!

Over the past couple of days have between watching a few tennis matches that have been advertised on prime. I must say, it has given me some inspiration to keep on playing the game whether it may be competition or playing it socially. I do find I watch this sport more than other sports advertised on tv. I do watch the NRL as well. One match I particularly enjoyed was the match – Justine Henin vs. Kim Clijsters at Brisbane International.

One thing I must say, that match was awesome. Never seen such skill demonstrated this year since I began watching tennis for the new year. The atmosphere was intense, but seeing it live would be a different story. I watched it from the tv at home and twittering at the same time.

Each player seemed to be in control of how they were hitting their ground strokes, their focus and their path of claiming victory. It looked like Justine was going to take victory at Brisbane International to make her comeback to the game of tennis an epic victory. However Kim Clijsters maintained her focus, leveled the game field to take out the Brisbane International. Was sad, was going for Justine Henin but was glad to see another match of hers. Justine is a favourite tennis player of mine and hope she does will in the Australian Open.

I’m looking forward to see how the Australian Open for 2010 will be like. I hope there are awesome matches to be watched, putting skills to the test and seeing who will take the title out this year.

I recommend that people take up the game of tennis. I find it to be fun, exciting and enjoyable. It keeps you fit and if your good enough at the game, you can travel the world, playing each competition and even obtaining prize money.

Back into the world of blogging once again after completing another year of year as well as we all pasted Christmas and New Year. We have hit 2010. Hope this year will be a good year for all. I decided to use what I like doing in my spare time and blogging about it.

I’m wanting to write my reviews / thoughts about various games I have played but however I am still tossing up if I should open a new blog site for a focus on them or use this one. What do you guys think? Keep the game reviews here or open a new blog site for them? My aim for this will be based on the games I own, played, what I liked about them, how I choose the game and my perspective. I figured, I should use what I like doing and write about it. Guess you can call it a passion? Another passion of my mine is playing tennis. Its one sport I like playing alot.

This will be a short blog and will leave you with a youtube clip entitled: Nexus One: ‘Web meets phone’. This is one step of what 2010 has planned for us.

Have a good year everyone

Its been awhile since I’ve written an a blog but thought I take a break of studying and write some. One thing that has come to mind is buying the Birthday Card for a friend, a mate, girlfriend/boyfriend and or family member.

I’ve been buying birthday cards for a while know and usually I can find one, match it with a friend and buy it on the spot. However, no cards at the local news agency I liked. Maybe I didn’t spend a lot of time at the news agency or there was no birthday cards that appealed to me at the time.

When I buy Birthday Cards this is what I usually follow:

1. Glance over the birthday cards on display
2. Start to think about the friend/mate or family member I’m buying for
3. Start picking out individual cards and read the front and inside
4. Find cards that are catchy, meaningful and special
5. Compare a couple before deciding
6. Read the front illustration and compare with others
7. Read inside the card; good cards have something meaningful inside
8. Buy

What do you look for when you buy a birthday card? Do you find it hard to find one or does it come easy? Good cards are hard to find, depending what the store has in stock. Think before you buy, if your stuck trying to find a birthday card I would suggest move on to another store and look there. You could come back to the same store but would suggest looking in another section then go back.

Its been awhile since I’ve posted a blog so thought I start typing and see where it will lead me. Been doing uni assignments lately while having 2 weeks off uni; one week was reading week and the other was a standard week off. I actually liked having a few weeks off from uni.

Had the dust storm while I was off from uni (well would have been at uni on the day but by memory think the lecture was cancelled due to strike or it was reading week). I must say it was awesome to wake up to an orange lite sky as compared to normal weather or no orange. Thought I was in a movie or woke up to a horror story – just joking but the dust storm did convince me that it could fit being a movie / horror story. I didn’t take any photos from the day – I should have! but I did step outside and it looked nifty.

Another thought is the word ‘unsuccessful’ – is it a good word to use or not? I reckon its not. In a way it could put you down for something that you were wanting to compete in or apply for an internship etc. I’m wondering if the word ‘unsuccessful’ can be replaced with another word that means the same thing but doesn’t have the same effect. What do you reckon?

As I am writing this blog I can hear thunder and the possible chance of the power going out. I saw the lights dim down a bit – only for a second though. Must admit weather is going a bit weird. One minute its sunny, then raining, the cloudy and toos some fun into it a dust storm. What’s going above?

The last week of Hey Hey on our tv screens. It was good fun but was watching masterchef before hand. The only reason why was because there was one comedian; Josh on there that I know and this week its Michelle from the Biggest loser. Should be good to see how both shows pan out this week. What do you think?
